Historically the diocese has been mapped into convocations. Each has an elected lay or clergy dean. The eight convocations are:

| Trenton | Mercer county, part of Hunterdon county |
| Watchung | Somerset county, parts of Hunterdon and Union counties |
| Woodbury | Gloucester, Salem, and Cumberland counties |
We're convinced that the role of convocations could be developed further, providing a stronger sense of unity in this enormous diocese.
