Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on December 18, 2007

• Consented to the Ordination of The Rev. Jeffrey D. Lee as Bishop of Chicago.
• Consented to the Election of a Bishop Suffragan for the Diocese of Dallas
• Consented to the Election of a Bishop Coadjutor for the Diocese of Puerto Rico
• Recommended David Snyder to be received as a priest.
• Approved the contract between Ocean County and St. Stephen’s Church, Whiting. 
• Approved the lease for a nursery-day school at St. Luke’s Church, Metuchen.
• Ratified the two leases for Trinity Church, Cranford, with the direction to come to Standing Committee the next time leases are negotiated.  
• Approved the mortgage on St. John-on-the-Mountain, Bernardsville’s church property to help fund renovations.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on November 15, 2007

• Approved the housing allowance for clergy employed at Diocesan House who are not provided housing.
• Consented to the Ordination of The Rev. John McKee Sloan as Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese of Alabama.
• Consented to the Ordination of The Very Rev. Dan Thomas Edwards as Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of Nevada.
• Recommended Lisa Caton, Deborah Anne Cook and Christopher Scott Wendell for ordination to the priesthood.  
• Recommended James Brent Bates for candidacy.
• Extended the temporary approval to St. Luke’s, Metuchen, to lease property for a day school until the December 13, 2007 meeting.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on October 18, 2007

• Affirmed the action taken by e-mail to approve St. James’ Church, Edison’s request to be reclassified as an Incorporated Mission.
• Recommended Charlotte Wells and Justin Falciani for candidacy.
• Extended the temporary approval to St. Luke’s, Metuchen, to lease property for a day school until the November 15, 2007 meeting.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on September 27, 2007

• Affirmed the action taken by e-mail to concur with the appointment of the Rt. Rev. Sylvestre D. Romero as Assisting Bishop of the Diocese of New Jersey effective October 1, 2007. 
• Affirmed the action taken by e-mail to consent to the Ordination and Consecration of the Rev. Sean Walter Rowe as the eighth Bishop of the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania.
• Affirmed the action taken by e-mail to consent to the Ordination and Consecration of the Rev. Dr. Gregory H. Rickel as Bishop of the Diocese of Olympia. 
• Affirmed the action taken by e-mail to consent to the Ordination and Consecration of the Rev. Edward Joseph Konieczny as Bishop of the Diocese of Oklahoma.
• Affirmed the action taken by e-mail to consent to the Election of a Bishop Coadjutor for the Diocese of Maine.
• Consented to the Ordination and Consecration of the Ven. Mary Gray-Reeves as Bishop of the Diocese of El Camino Real.  
• Consented to the Ordination and Consecration of the Very Rev. Mark J. Lawrence as Bishop of the Diocese of South Carolina. 
• Request of the Vicar of St. Mark’s, Hammonton, to sell the vicarage was not approved. 
• Granted interim approval to St. Luke’s, Metuchen, to lease property for a day school until October 18, 2007.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on June 5, 2007

• The Standing Committee endorsed the efforts of Bishop Councell in consultation with Bishop Matthews to begin the exploration for an Assisting/Assistant Bishop this summer and to report back at the September meeting.

• Approved the consolidation of St. Paul’s Church and Church of the Holy Comforter, Rahway.
• Recommended John Hartman and Matthew Tucker for candidacy.
• Approved the sale of Trinity Cathedral’s property at 806 West State Street.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on April 26, 2007

• Approved the appropriate compensatory increase for Bishop Councell for 2007.
• Approved the consolidation of St. Luke’s, Westville and the Church of the Holy Spirit, Bellmawr.
• Consented to the Ordination and Consecration of The Very Rev. Shannon S. Johnston as Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese of Virginia.
• Consented to the Election of a Bishop Suffragan for the Diocese of Alabama.
• Consented to the Election of The Rev. Laura Ahrens as Bishop Suffragan for the Diocese of Connecticut.
• Recommended Lisa Caton, Deborah Cook and Christopher Wendell for ordination to the Transitional Diaconate.
• Approved the 2007 Financial Aid Awards.
• Recommended Greg Ventura for ordination to the Vocational Diaconate.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on March 3, 2007

• Welcomed the newly elected members of the Class of 2011:  The Rev. Karin R. Mitchell and Hon. Robert W. Scott. 
• The Rev. Terrence W. Rosheuvel was elected President and The Rev. Mark H. Chattin was elected Secretary of the Standing Committee for the coming year. 
• Charles Perfater will coordinate the real estate business for the Standing Committee for the coming year.

Next regular meeting of the Standing Committee will be April 26, 2006 at 5:00 p.m.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on February 15, 2007

• Conducted an annual review with Bishop Councell.
• Endorsed John Wood Goldsack’s reappointment as Chancellor for a one-year term. 
• Approved the consolidation of St. Luke the Evangelist, Roselle, and Grace Church, Linden, in accordance with New Jersey Statute 16:12-15, noting that Canon 72 will apply to the sale of any real estate. 
• Consented to the election of The Rev. Dr. Dabney T. Smith as Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese of Southwest Florida.
• Consented to the Ordination and Consecration of The Rev. Dr. Thomas E. Breidenthal as Bishop of the Diocese of Southern Ohio.
• Recommended James Gowland, Sharon Sutton, Richard Wisniewski, Frank Castellon, Peter Cornell, and Joanna George for ordination to the Vocational Diaconate.
