Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on December 16, 2004

  • Recommended Martha Dooley for candidacy for the vocational diaconate.
  • Approved the housing allowances for clergy on Diocesan House Staff who are not provided housing.
  • Consented to the election of a Bishop Coadjutor for the Diocese of Tennessee.
  • Consented to the application of St. Michael’s Church, Trenton, to proceed with a contract to sell five lots in Ewing for $70,000.
  • Consented to the application of Trinity Cathedral, Trenton, to proceed with a contract to sell a house at 829 West State Street, Trenton for $220,000.
  • Consented to the application of St. Peter’s Church, Barnegat Light, to proceed with a contract to sell a house at 11 E. 11th Street, Barnegat Light for $725,000.
  • Consented to the application of St. Martin-in-the-Field Church, Lumberton, to proceed with a contract to sell 1-acre plus house subdivided from their 2.48 acre property for $55,000.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on November 18, 2004

  • Voted to deconsecrate Church of Our Saviour, Camden, sell the church "as is" and hire a realty company.
  • Recommended Petrina Pyatt, Valerie Redpath and Nancy Hite Speck for ordination to the priesthood.
  • Recommended Blake Hutson and Deborah Piggins for Candidacy for Holy Orders.
  • Consented to the election of The Rev. Canon Jeffrey Neil Steenson as Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese of the Rio Grande.
  • Consented to the application of Christ the King Church, Willingboro, to apply for a $75,000 loan to replace a roof and install replacement heaters. 
  • Consented to the application of St. Martin-in-the-Field Church, Lumberton, to proceed with a contract to sell .74 acres plus house subdivided from their 2.48 acre property for $60,000.
  • Appointed John Wood Goldsack as Property Matters Representative of the Standing Committee effective at the close of Diocesan Convention in 2005.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on October 14, 2004

  • Recommended the Rev. William Thiele for ordination to the priesthood.
  • Consented to the application of St. Peter’s Church, Barnegat Light, to sell property at 9 East 11th Street, lot 9.02, block 21, Barnegat Light, New Jersey.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on September 9, 2004

  • Consented to the election of The Rev. Granville Porter Taylor as Bishop of the Diocese of Western North Carolina.
  • Consented to the election of The Rev. Bavi Edna “Nedi” Rivera as Bishop Suffragan of the Diocese of Olympia.
  • Consented to the Housing Allowance Resolution for the Canon to the Ordinary, The Rev. Canon Lee Powers.
  • Consented to the application of St. Bernard’s, Bernardsville, to seek nomination for eligibility for the National Register Nomination of Historic Places and the New Jersey Nomination of Historic Places.
  • Consented to the application of Church of the Holy Spirit, Tuckerton, to sell property and purchase an improved property also giving consent for the bridge loan.
  • Consented to the application of St. Matthew’s Church, Pennington, to apply for a loan with Fleet National Bank to refinance at a fixed loan interest at 5.8% per annum for 15 years.
  • Consented for Trinity Church, Woodbridge, to sell property known as 631 Roosevelt Avenue, Carteret.
  • Reaffirmed consent for St. Barnabas’, Monmouth Junction, to apply for a loan to refinance to reduce their monthly payments. This action was taken at the May 13, 2004 meeting.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on May 13, 2004

  • Concurred with Bishop Councell’s appointment of The Rev. Lee Powers as Canon to the Ordinary.
  • Consented to the application for a bridge loan for St. Simeon’s-by-the-Sea, North Wildwood.
  • Recommended Sheelagh Clarke and Valerie Balling for candidacy.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on April 15, 2004

  • Welcomed the members of the Class of 2008: The Rev. Terrence Rosheuvel and Mr. Charles “Chuck” Perfater.
  • Consented to the election of The Rev. Canon Michael Gene Smith as Bishop of the Diocese of North Dakota.
  • Consented to the request of Trinity Church, Woodbridge, to seek nomination of eligibility for the National Register Nomination of Historic Places and the New Jersey Nomination of Historic Places.
  • Approved the 2004 Financial Aid Awards.
  • Recommended Petrina Pyatt, Nancy Hite-Speck, Valerie Redpath, Bill Thiele for Ordination to the Transitional Diaconate.

Summary of the meeting of the Standing Committee on February 19, 2004

  • Consented to the election of The Rev. Gary R. Lillibridge as Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese of West Texas.
  • Consented to the consecration of The Rev. Canon Kirk Stevan Smith as Bishop Coadjutor-Elect for the Diocese of Arizona.
  • Consented to the election of The Ven. Mark Hollingsworth, Jr. as Bishop of the Diocese of Ohio.
  • Consented for the call for the election of a Bishop Coadjutor for the Diocese of the Rio Grande.
  • Consented to the Election of a Bishop Suffragan for the Diocese of Olympia.
  • Reaffirmed approval given to St. John’s, New Brunswick, to sell a parking lot.
  • Reaffirmed approval given to Holy Spirit, Tuckerton, to sell a vicarage and purchase new property.
  • Approved request for landmark historic status for St. George’s by the River, Rumson.
  • Approved request for an amendment to a historic preservation easement for St. Peter’s, Perth Amboy.
  • Approved a temporary construction easement for Trinity Church, Rocky Hill.
  • Recommended Carol Gilbert, Donald Krautter, Catherine Esposito, Greg Ventura, Theodore Moore, and Cipher Devours for Candidacy to the Vocational Diaconate.
  • Thanked the members of the Class of 2004 for their service: The Rev. Dr. Jean R. Smith, President, and Ms. Margaret Hughes, Secretary.
